Ministry this month has been something else! My team and one other team serve at a place called Wildflower Home, a safe place for women and children who have been victims of domestic abuse. Side note: I love the way the Lord takes situations that once held us captive and turns them into our ministry!

*** this is the moment where you stop and reflect on the situations that once held YOU hostage. That’s right, the one that you once felt hopeless in. The one that He delivered you from. The delivery that brought you the most freedom. Because you HAVE found freedom from this struggle/situation, you have more authority to speak into that same struggle in someone else’s life. Our stories often hold the key to someone’s freedom

Don’t withhold the goodness of the Lord from someone who needs to hear it.

He didn’t withhold it from you when you needed it. Rant over.***

Wildflower Home is an inter-religious organization (meaning they accept women of all religions). Women run a farm as well as make things like homemade soaps and shampoos to sell.  The home is entirely run by women, which I think is fantastic and incredibly empowering! This month our teams have become farmers. Each day we plow fields or move big piles of dirt, weeds, or plants. We work hard and it’s rewarding to look up at the end of the day to see the fruit of our labor. Somedays we get to make shampoo, but more often than not, we are farmers. *que the Farmers insurance jingle*

Farming gives us all a lot of time to think and to share with each other what the Lord is showing us. It’s been so encouraging to learn and grow together in this way. We’ve laughed, shared, and snag wayyyyy too much High School Musical. We’ve gotten to know each other in a new refreshing way. Wildflower Home has been a huge blessing to us.

Fun Notes (I’ve made you suffer in seriousness long enough)

– I bought myself new glasses, as mine finally bit the dust amongst the sea of mattresses on the floor! They were only $65 for both lenses and the frame! With that being said, if you need new glasses send me your Rx and PayPal the money and I’ll hook you up!
– I joined a gym! In addition to back-breaking physical labor every day, I joined a gym, lol! I will be re-entering the US right at the beginning of swimsuit season and I HAVE TO GET READY NOW! I have fallen in love with the little sandwiches from 7/11, it’s becoming a problem
– I dropped my phone out of the back of a truck and it almost got run over by another truck, but they stopped just in time and my phone is fine. Ain’t He good?!
– My last blog about my friend, the peanut boy, got reposted on the World Race Newsletter. This was huge for me! Oh, when He makes goodness out of our shortcomings, HE MAKES GOODNESS OUT OF OUR SHORTCOMINGS!

  1. When I first hear you’d be ministering to women & children in a domestic abuse shelter I couldn’t even speak for several minutes. Oh how He does use our victories to minister to others. Living in awe of all He’s done! I love you!

  2. Jessa- I’d love to visit Wildflower Home one day! I would really love to be able to see you serving there! Keep seeing Him in every place! Love you and I’m super proud of YOU!
